Rowley Properties completed its second commercial solar installation in Issaquah, marking the milestone with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1595 NW Gilman Blvd. The event, held on Earth Day, was attended by Mayor Mullet and representatives from the City of Issaquah, Puget Sound Energy, the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce, Blossom Solar, and Rowley tenants and partners.

The project builds on the success of Rowley’s first installation at 1505 NW Gilman Blvd, which went live in mid-2024. Since coming online, that system has generated 182.3 megawatt hours of electricity, enough to power 17 average homes for a year and equivalent to removing 283,000 pounds of CO2 from the atmosphere. Rowley sized both systems to deliver 110 percent of each building’s energy needs, accounting for panel degradation over a 20-year lifespan.

Completed in partnership with Blossom Solar and aligned with the City of Issaquah’s Climate Action Plan, the second installation reflects a deliberate, long-term approach: test, learn, and scale solutions that are both environmentally and economically sound. With solar panel efficiency continuing to improve since the initial project, Rowley is actively evaluating opportunities to expand its renewable energy footprint—recognizing ongoing pressures on the state’s electrical grid and the role on-site solar can play in being part of the solution.

“This is about taking practical steps that make sense for our tenants, our community, and the environment,” said Kari Magill, CEO of Rowley Properties. “We took our first building off the grid in 2024 and the results have been clear. Every year that energy rates increase faster than expected, our payback period shortens. Now we are doing the same for our main office building while the tax incentives are still in place, and we will keep watching the technology for what makes sense next.”

Rowley will monitor performance on the new system closely, as it has with the first installation, using the data to inform future projects across its Issaquah portfolio. The company has been a fixture in the Issaquah commercial real estate community for more than 60 years.

As part of its Earth Day message, Rowley is encouraging fellow businesses to explore one practical step toward sustainability. Whether through solar, energy efficiency improvements, or other renewable investments, companies like Blossom Solar can help evaluate what makes sense for your facility.
